How wonderful it is to see how art has progressed and changed over the ages. Of course, the Masters will always be the Masters and are timeless.I found this book to be a great way of viewing the Masters work through the ages. This book give a chronological overview of the Masters work through the various Western painters from Giovanni Cimbabue's(1240 - 1302) "The Virgin and Child in Majesty Surrounded by Six Angels" 1240 - 1302 to various 20th century artist such as Andy Warhol. It gives a brief explanation of the various art art periods such as Gothic, cubism and I think it gives a taste of the various periods of art through time. I've had this book a few years and still enjoy it.
